Owned by Eton College, Dorney Lake is an epic watersports and outdoor activities venue. It holds fantastic triathlons each year and was the London 2012 Olympics rowing venue. You don't have to get wet to visit though, and in the surroundings are footpaths and cycle paths so you can admire it from the snugness of your dry clothes.

At the far end of the Olympic rowing lake in Dorney, you get a real feel for the distance that the Olympic champion competitors row. In the far distance, you can just see the grand new boathouse at the finish line. Dorney Lake is a great facility, owned by Eton College, but often stages rowing events and public triathlons. The public can’t freely use the lake itself, but cycling, walking and running round on the tarmac is always allowed.
