Around five kilometers west of Lindau is Wasserburg - a tranquil, small town with around 5,000 inhabitants, whose most striking feature is its peninsula jutting into Lake Constance with its ancient buildings: a Renaissance castle that once belonged to the Count of Montfort, the Catholic Church of St. George with a baroque high altar and the Malhaus, a former Fugger courthouse.
