The Cathedral of the Assumption of the Lord in Čačak, the former monastery of Our Lady Gradačka, is the foundation of Prefect Stracimir, brother of Stefan Nemanja, a cultural monument of great importance for the Republic of Serbia from the 12th century.
The exact year the temple was founded is not known, but it is believed to have been built between 1179 and 1190. It is believed to have been built by Mayor Stracimir, brother of Stefan Nemanja. At that time it was called Bogorodica Gradačka.
It was founded on the highest point in Čačak, it is a place where the West Morava was not flooded before, the height is about 245 m.
