This is one of over 300 memorial stones erected by the Palatinate Forest Association. Here, it marks the location of a beautiful, old well. A bench stands to the left of it.
Unfortunately, it's very neglected: A little further down, there's another (very dilapidated) bench right next to a small pond.
"The name of the well is said to derive from an old term 'Hundo,' a former company commander (Eitelmann 2005, p. 129 ff.). The term dates back to the Merovingian-Carolingian period."

An interesting and a bit different Ritterstein PWV over the Hundsquelle.
The Ritterstein is possibly named after a Hundo, as a hundred leader was called in Merovingian-Carolingian times.
