A variety of surfaces, but mainly beautiful fine gravel. A great way to get in or out of Stroud on any bike as it avoids the busy roads and has some very pretty scenery. It is shared with plenty of walkers, so courtesy is required. At present (March 2022) The section of the towpath immediately west of this segment is closed as a new railway bridge is built. When it is reopened it will be possible to connect to the cycle path that takes you all the way to Blunder Lock.
