The Sigolsheim necropolis is a military cemetery created by Marshal de Lattre de Tassigny when he proposed regrouping the bodies of soldiers of the First French Army following the Second World War.

Located on the hill of "Blutberg", which means "mountain of blood", 1589 soldiers rest there on an area of 18,285 m², including 792 graves of North African soldiers and 15 graves of Jewish soldiers.

Directly near the Necropolis, at the parking lot, stands the American monument facing the Alsace plain. This monument was erected in 1995 in honor of the American fighters who died in Alsace for freedom.

You can discover this place during a vineyard hike departing from Sigolsheim. For a short break, take advantage of the nearby picnic area

Access to the site is prohibited from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.

This hill combines both the beauty of the landscapes of the Alsace wine route and a place of memory following the tragic history of the region.
