This railway line is really idyllic. The cycle path connects the Wuppertaler Nordbahntrasse and Hattingen, where you can reach the Ruhrtal cycle path very quickly.

The route runs through the middle of the green and is really beautiful. It is not paved but the well-groomed gravel surface is also good to drive on the road bike, at least when it is dry.

Unfortunately not paved, but mostly good gravel, sometimes a few stones look out. You should not necessarily roll your head in the clouds. But it's still a perfect way to get away from the Ruhr, without much traffic - just at the crossings! - to come from Hattingen to Wuppertal. If you drive from there on the fastest way to Niederbergbahn, you get out in Essen-Kettwig, where you only have to drive over the bridge just to be back to the Ruhr. From here you can then relax back to the starting point. Make then scarce 8km on roads with a total distance of approx. 100km!
