The submontane view of the dune is fascinating and the climb is exausting to some extend. But it's awesome and definitely worth it, too.

Incredible colors. I love this desert. Great view from the top.
Because of a sandstorm we were too late at the lookout point. The morning dew had already completely evaporated. This made it an extremely exhausting climb. The loose, floury sand makes every step to agony. At the end I only counted. 20 steps, break, etc. Each hike in the Black Forest over 600 hm is not as strenuous as this over 70 hm. The sandstorm swept along. 60-80 km / h over the Dünenkamm and made the climb more difficult. A 60 kg woman from our group had to turn back. It was literally blown over.

It's best to come in the morning or afternoon. Both because of the great shadow play and because of the temperature :-) If it's too crowded, you can also go to Dune 40, which is a bit closer to the entrance.
