"Where today the facilities of the former colliery Bergmannsglück stand, was once the Buersche manor" Uhlenbrock. "At the beginning of the 20th century, the Prussian state acquired the estate Uhlenbrock for the mountain treasury.
In 1903 north of Buer was started with the sinking of the double shaft system Bergmannsglück 1/2, which began in 1905 the promotion. In 1909, a coking plant was put into operation, which was shut down in 1929 in favor of the Westerholt Coking Plant. With an annual funding of 1 million fat and gas coal, the mine was one of the most efficient in the Ruhr area.
With the onset of the coal crisis at the end of the 1950s, the promotion of former fiscal coal mines was merged by the then Hibernia AG into efficient facilities. This led 1961 to the conveying attitude of the coal mine Bergmannsglück, which was operated then still as outside area of the bill Westerholt. After dropping the Bergmannsglück shafts in the 1970s and 1980s, the conveyor systems were canceled. Some buildings later served Ruhrkohle AG as a central warehouse. In 2008, the last farms on the site were shut down.
The plants still in existence show a good example of industrial architecture from the Wilhelminian era. Among the still largely original parts include the gate, the former colliery, the workshops and the engine house, in which there is still a steam-hauling machine from the year 1911. Various old buildings will in future be used by the "Community Bergmannsglücker Verein e.V. (GBV)" as a meeting center and for events.
Since the beginning of 2012, a "center for real estate service providers" of Vivawest Dienstleistungen GmbH has been created on large parts of the former coalfield site. Together with HVG Grünflächenmanagement GmbH, RHZ Handwerks-Zentrum GmbH, Skibatron GmbH and Marienfeld MultiMedia GmbH, a modern depot is being built for 800 employees and around 80 apprentices in 15 different training occupations.
