Built in 1553

The four-pipe fountain is a small masterpiece of the early Renaissance and was once the center of the town. Created in 1553 by an unknown master stonemason, it is the end point of the wooden water pipe laid in 1538, which was fed with spring water from the Mühltal. At that time, only draw wells were in use, but the four-pipe fountain with constantly running spring water represented a technical and hygienic specialty.

On the fountain column are the names and coats of arms of important personalities from the time of construction and the oldest representation of the Langen coat of arms. Below, embedded in a tendril ornament, are four animal heads that are supposed to symbolize human characteristics. Langen belonged to the Hesse-Darmstadt region since 1599. In the following period, perhaps only during the extensive fountain renovation in 1667, the Hessian lion was placed on the fountain column. In 1712, the lion was renewed by the "honorable master Johannes Wasem Stein Metz from Erfurt".
At the Ebbelwoifest, apple wine flows from the Vierröhrenbrunnen.
