The Mirador de Diego Monea, also called the Mirador de Diego Fernández, is one of the most beautiful viewpoints in Andalusia. From here, a sweeping view opens up over the so-called Arco Calizo Central, the central limestone arch of Andalusia, which includes the Sierra del Torcal. The striking rock formations, created by millions of years of erosion, form one of the most impressive karst landscapes in Europe. The viewpoint is located on the road to the Torcal Alto Visitor Center. Although the route is steep, it offers magnificent panoramic views and is a worthwhile destination, especially for experienced cyclists.
A stele at the site commemorates Diego Fernández, to whom the mirador was dedicated in 1993. The Andalusian Environmental Agency officially lists the viewpoint under the name "Mirador Diego Monea."
The spot itself is ideal for a break after a challenging bike ride and enjoying the impressive landscape, with its sweeping views stretching all the way down to the Antequera plain. The Mirador de Diego Monea uniquely combines exercise and nature experience – a place where cyclists and nature lovers alike can experience the quiet grandeur of the Torcal.
