The summit and most fascinating place of the small state "enclosed" by Emilia-Romagna, the historic center of San Marino has a splendid cycling history. Once home to the coveted Coppa Placci, San Marino hosted a women's stage race (in its last edition, in 2007, it was won by Marianne Vos) and in 2019 it was home to a time trial stage of the Giro d'Italia, won by Primoz Roglic. Finally, the last two editions of the Coppi and Bartali International Week had a stage with a circuit in San Marino: in 2021 none other than Jonas Vingegaard won here.
