Window Rock is the seat of the Navajo tribal government. It is in this small town that the decisions concerning this immense reserve and its inhabitants are made. The city owes its name to this impressive rock which actually looks like a huge window looking up to the sky.
The statue of the soldier in front of the monument represents one of the famous Navajo Code Talkers made famous by the use of their indecipherable coded messages. These soldiers were of considerable importance at the time of the Second World War.
