Neoclassical church with longitudinal plan, with 3 naves. The Colegiada de Santo Estêvão de Valença was headquartered here, as well as the Bishopric of Ceuta. From those times it is possible to appreciate the bispal chair, in Gothic-Mudejar style, as well as the armchairs and paintings from the life of Stº Estevão. The temple still preserves the only existing picture in Portugal of the Virgin breastfeeding the boy who escaped the Inquisition.
The Roman Milestone marks the 42 miles distance from Braga to Tui and was built by Emperor Cláudio in the 1st century AD. Throughout the ages it also served as a pillory. Roman route XIX enters Valença via Fontoura, crosses Cerdal on the Pedreira bridge and reached the vein of Valença where it crossed to Tui. A route for military, commercial and pacification purposes.

Located in the historic centre of Valença, the Church of Santo Estevão was built in the 13th century. It was the seat of the old Gothic-Mudejar Episcopal collegiate church from the 15th century. It consists of three naves and a rectangular chancel arranged longitudinally, with stepped roofs with one and two slopes. The bodies are attached to the north and south. The tower is attached to the south.

Saint Stephen (or Stefan, in another spelling), patron saint of this church in Valencia, is one of the first seven deacons of the original Jerusalem community and is the first martyr (martyr) of early Christianity. The church commemorates him on the second day of Christmas, December 26th.
When Stephen expressed his vision of the open heavens, "But he, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked up into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God" (Acts chapter 7 verse 55), the people were so outraged that they drove him out of the city and stoned him.
