The old roadhouse was closed in 2006, but it looks like they're building a new one. When we rode past everything was close down, but we are now seeing good reviews of the camping facilities available.
The nearby settlement of Yalata was founded when the local Aboriginal population were forcibly removed from Maralinga, their traditional home, so that the British military could conduct nuclear weapons testing.
There is a monument here to that atrocity.
