The Pusztamaróti Memorial dates back to the Battle of Mohács, and it is tragic that 20,000 Hungarian soldiers died in this place in the battle with the Turks. The settlement itself (which has a permanent resident, if I remember correctly, 1 person) was depopulated after the Swabians were evicted. It is located about 3 km from the main road, and can be reached via a poor quality dirt road.
In a beautiful location in the middle of the forest, it is a settlement with a few inhabitants, but it is really notable as a memorial site. But we can also find a fire pit, a rain shelter, and tourist accommodations here. A real picnic area, although I missed the possibility of buying drinking water. We can go all the way downhill towards Héreg on the sometimes gravel road.
