The Rieth reservoir, or Stau Lauter, is one of the largest lakes in the Heldburger Land with over 20 hectares. A detour is worthwhile, just like the simple visit. Unfortunately, bathing is forbidden, the lake is managed.

The reservoir is managed, so around the end of October the water is slowly drained and the carp caught. A necessity, which, however, demands some adaptation from the numerous waterfowl. Now in January, the reservoir is slowly filling up again, luckily there is enough inflow. The sunsets here are always beautiful. You can see some pictures of this under the highlight bird watching tower.
