Stadsbierhuys de Waag is the oldest catering facility in the Netherlands. The building dates from 1478. The weigh house was created as a combination of weighing building and Stadsbierhuys. Today it is a place to relax and enjoy pastries, the extensive menu or one of the 60 beers.

Here 'de Waag' was apparently combined with a general 'Doesburg' highlight. Unfortunately, many photos and tips no longer fit the title. De Waag is considered the oldest restaurant in the country and beyond this title competition it is a beautiful medieval building on the central square of Doesburg. Especially in summer you can sit outside and enjoy a refreshment with a view of the similarly beautiful Stadshuis opposite.

Doesburg received city rights as early as 1237 and was for a long time Holland's most important fortified town. You can still see the wealth of that time in the wonderfully restored old town and the fortifications.

The old scale is a really impressive building.
There are information boards showing what and how people used to work there during the Hanseatic era.
Today there is a highly recommended restaurant there.
