The historic center of Bari is the heart of the old city. Its short and narrow alleys form a labyrinth where it is a pleasure to get lost while exploring this unique place. There are more than 30 churches among which the Basilica of San Nicola and the Romanesque basilica of San Gregorio stand out. Another architecture that dominates the area is the Norman Swabian castle, built by Frederick II in the 13th century.
