Brunn-Greiz railway line
On October 21, 1865, the city of Greiz was connected to the German railway network, which had been in the making since 1835.
The route of the Greiz-Gera railway line was originally planned through the Princely Park, but the reigning Prince Heinrich XXII. Reuss Aelterer Line rejected this and approved the construction of a tunnel through the Schloßberg.
Construction of the 270 m long Schloßberg tunnel began in 1872 and was completed in 1874.
