The Haidl cellar in Thaya is of considerable size (around 30 meters long), which raises the question of the former purpose of this cellar. Because of the cool and, above all, constant temperatures, the cellar certainly served as a storage space for food and beverages. In addition, valuable goods could be protected from possible fires. The Haidl cellar can now be navigated by boat. The cellar is flooded due to a connection to the old well next to the Karner chapel.
