The Emberger Alm is located at over 1,700m above Greifenburg in the Drautal. There is also the start of the ascent, which is demanding over 11 kilometers and almost 1,100 meters in altitude. The incline is double-digit throughout, only after approx. KM 1 there is a flat stretch of a few hundred meters in length.
The driveway is completely paved, car traffic is limited, although no toll is due for the driveway and a very popular departure point for paragliders is just below the Alm.
When you arrive at the houses on top of the Emberger Alm, it pays to continue driving between the houses until you reach a viewpoint on the right. From there you have a great view to the south - from the Weissensee directly on the Kreuzberg to the Slovenian Triglav summit far in the background.
For the next time I have made a note of the onward journey to the Oberberger Alm (on gravel and forest paths) - from there you should come down directly to Berg im Drautal (and therefore don't have to go back down the same way).
