The lake is the landmark and eponym of the place Eltmannsee and also serves as a fire pond.
It does not have a natural inflow, but gets its water from the surface, which has repeatedly caused problems due to algae as a result of the last hot summers.
A nice break place, which is often used because you are "up here" and the further tour no matter which direction you choose, go down.

Directly on the lake, the name giver and landmark of the small village of Eltmannsee, there is a nice little rest area under the mighty linden tree. Unfortunately, there is always the problem of increased algae formation, since the lake is only fed by surface water. The place was first mentioned in a document from Cornberg Abbey in 1278, but fell deserted in the centuries that followed and was only resettled in the middle of the 16th century.
