The Sorgenser Mill, built in 1686, is quite distinctive and many commuters to and from Hanover drive past it every day.
A final restoration took place in 1988 and the so-called post mill is now in good condition. The mill is illuminated at night.
A restaurant next to the mill ceased operations in 2017.
A large new information board was put up in 2022!

The Sorgenser Mühle is the last surviving windmill in the Burgdorf urban area. It can be seen from all sides and shapes the landscape. It also represents the last mill in Altdorf Burgdorf, which has still ground with natural power. In 1686, the Sorgenser mill was built. Basic renovation work was carried out in 1793. For two and a half centuries the Sorgenser windmill supplied the population with flour. To preserve the mill, it was listed as a historical monument. The city of Burgdorf had the structural and technical condition examined. The mill became property of the town of Burgdorf in 1985. In order to bring the building, the wings and the masonry back into working order, it was decided to renovate the Sorgenser wind turbine. The renovation was completed in 1988.

Regularly on the occasion of the German Mills Day (annually on Whitsun Monday), the city of Burgdorf invites you to visit the Sorgenser Bockwindmühle on the Otzer Landstraße free of charge from 11.00 am to 6.00 pm.

Guided tours can be arranged outside of the Deutscher Mühlentag (contact: Verkehrs- und Verschönerungs-Verein der Stadt Burgdorf e.V., Mr. Bleich, Tel. 05136-1862.
