    Breezand, located a little further away, is the name of the widest beach in the Netherlands.

      The village at the tip of Walcheren was founded around 1300 in a newly reclaimed area. It owes its name to a mysterious painting of Mary; this madonna was called Our Lady of the Polder. The village has long played a major role as a pilgrimage site because of miracles that took place in the village. In 1588, Fort Den Haak was built to cover the entrance to the Veerse Gat. The fort was destroyed in 1809, and all that remains is an empty plain.

      In the 14th century, a chapel was elevated to a parish church in the village of Niepolre. The church was dedicated to Mary, after whom the village was later named. The church was damaged during the Eighty Years' War. The church was then rebuilt with remains of the old walls.

        Very nice little place.
        There you can take a break in various restaurants and cafes during a bike ride or just go to the beautiful beach.
        There are also some bungalow parks attached to the town.
        The wide beach with the observation tower is absolutely worth seeing, from where you can see the town of Veere in the distance when the weather is good.

                Vrouwenpolder is a village in the municipality of Veere on the peninsula Walcheren in the Dutch province of Zeeland. The village has about 1200 inhabitants and is located between Oostkapelle and the Veerse Gatdam. This dam was the first dam in connection with the delta projects to shorten the coastline.

                The village on Walcheren was built around the year 1300 in a gated area. It owes its name to a mysterious portrait of a Virgin called "Our Lady of the Polder". The village played a major role as a place of pilgrimage for a long time because of miracles that took place there.
