Hofstetten is home to the "Spurzelgrub" or "Spurzelgrub Cave" natural monument. It is a rock group in the massive Franconia dolomite and a spacious semi-cave measuring 7 x 10 m. The site is under special protection as a natural and ground monument (monument no. D-5-6535-0103 geotope number: 574R013). It doesn't look like that with all the traces of fire and bricks lying around. umweltatlas.bayern.de/mapapps/resources/reports/geotope/generateBericht.pdf?additionallayerfieldvalue=574R013
Interesting and worth seeing cave of ruins a little off the marked hiking trails. Unfortunately, the cave, which is described as a natural monument on the topographic map, is advertised as a barbecue area on the sign next to the entrance and is accordingly covered in soot. Still worth a detour!
