It is the church of San Michele, better known as the sanctuary of the Madonna della Strà.
The first dedication of the church of the Stra 'to St. Michael the Archangel belonged to the desire of the faithful to obtain his protection. The cult of this saint began in the fifth century in southern Italy and then spread throughout the country, facilitated by the progressive expansion of the Lombard population. A purely military saint, he particularly developed his influence also along the river communication routes, as certainly happened also for Belfiore.
The numerous Roman tombstones of the church, however, suggest that it may have risen over the remains of previous buildings, built in a short period of time (from 10 to 70 years in the 12th and 13th centuries). Surely it was built on pre-existing buildings, first pagan, later Christian, belonging to the Lombard period.
