Below Hanover begins a northwest-facing section of the course. Here the line runs through a river loop north of Letter and another south of Marienwerder. This second loop touches the Hinüberscher Garten, the Leineaue of Marienwerder and at the end the Bürgerpark Seelze. Between Seelze in the south and Garbsen in the north, it is crossed between Seelze and Seelze-Lohnde by the west-east running Mittelland Canal. At Bordenau, the Westaue flows out from the south-west. From then on, the line meanders quite strongly in a northerly direction, including through the town center of Neustadt am Rübenberge, where it flows roughly parallel to the eastern border of the Steinhuder Meer Nature Park. In Neustadt, a mill canal branches off, on which a small waterfall (with rapids when the water level is low) can be bypassed in the Leine; the canal supplied the mill in Neustadt.
