A few kilometers from Maulbronn Monastery is the Elfinger Hof, one of the first grange of the monastery. Together with the neighboring vineyard, it was one of the monastery's most important economic possessions. After the dissolution of Maulbronn Monastery in 1534/1556, the original cloister courtyard became a domain with a hamlet and its own chapel.

It has been historically documented since 1152 and, along with the neighboring vineyard, was one of the monastery's most important economic assets, which was initially managed by lay brothers themselves and later by tenants. The estate still gives a vivid impression of the monastery landscape of Maulbronn, although the buildings in the hamlet are probably all from more recent times.
