The Viersener Bismarck Tower was built in 1900 on the highest elevation of the Hohe Busch (at 85 m). The exact height is carved into a stone block of the monument:

N.N. 84,943. The total height of the tower is 18.22 m, the building material: greywacke, from which rough machined cuboids are created, which give the building its massive appearance.

The iron door bears Bismarck's coat of arms.

On the east side of the monument, a bronze portrait of Bismarck created by the Berlin sculptor Arnold Klinne stands out from a light granite slab at a height of around 9 m. It is a portrait in profile of the Chancellor in uniform.

As part of the EUROGA 2002plus, the cultural history of the region was dealt with under the main theme "War and Peace". For this purpose, Viersen restored the Bismarck Tower, inaugurated in 1901 on the Hohe Busch. It was created to commemorate Prince Bismarck and his national unification of Germany, which was brought about by wars. At the same time, the tower is also a warning monument against arrogance and Wilhelminian need for recognition.

Until the end of the Empire, the tower was illuminated on Bismarck's birthday and was the destination of the Viersener's first spring walk. Otherwise it served as a lookout point into the Nierstal.

The Bismarck celebrations were discontinued after the First World War, but the tower was still used as an excursion destination. It was only after World War II that he lost this function. The trees surrounding the tower were so tall that they blocked the view.

After the restoration work was completed in 2001, events in the spring of 2003 brought the tower back into the public eye.
