                  The 963-meter-long combined road and rail bridge crosses the 1300-meter-wide Fehmarnsund and is 23 meters high above mean water level. For shipping, it offers a passage of 240 meters wide and a clearance height of 23m above sea level. The steel structure is 21 meters wide, of which 6 meters were used by Deutsche Bahn. The span of the arch is 248 meters, and its highest point is 45 meters above the roadway. The arch is approximately 268.5 m long.

                              Note: The journey over the Fehmarnsund Bridge is currently not possible for bicycles. Closed until February 15, 2024 (expected).
                              The DB has installed a shuttle service. A bus with a bicycle trailer runs from/to Großenbrode (bus stop at the town exit towards Puttgarden) and from/to Strukkamp (town center/bus stop) every 90 minutes.
                              Taking bicycles is at your own risk, taking bicycle trailers is only possible to a limited extent!
                              The service is free of charge!

                                      The Fehmarnsund Bridge is closed to bicycles and pedestrians until February 15, 2024!
                                      Shuttle bus every 90 minutes from/to Großenbrode and to/from the center of Stukkamp. Up to 16 bikes. Trailers can only be taken on a limited basis.

                                            The island's landmark - the Fehmarnsund Bridge - has connected the south of the island with the Schleswig-Holstein mainland since it was opened on April 30, 1963. Affectionately known locally as the "coat hanger", it has since replaced the ferry service between Großenbroderfähre and the town of Fehmarnsund. It has been a listed building since 1999.
