It is one of the oldest churches in the district in one of the oldest villages in the region. The first mention of the church in Bischhausen dates back to 786 AD. There was probably a church made of wood.

What also catches the eye in the interior are the tombstones of Epitaph Reinhard von Boyneburg and Mrs. Margarete. The deceased are depicted kneeling in niches in front of a cross, framed by numerous coats of arms of their ancestors, above which the risen Savior with a victory flag can be seen in the upper part. Also interesting is a research project in the church tower, where the approximately 1,000 bats that reside there are filmed.

Up in the village, in the center of a disappeared medieval castle, is the church of Bischhausen. The fortified tower, which is visible from afar, with the loopholes still preserved, was built in the 13th or 14th century, the hood dates from 1590. At the entrance, the church is marked as a cycle path church and a pilgrimage church.
