As early as 1929 there was a first simple footbridge over the Fulda here on Wittich. The current steel construction had to be significantly extended around the year 2000 to make room for a flood basin, which was necessary in the course of flood protection and renaturation. The footbridge is completely without steps and a successful shortcut away from car traffic for pedestrians and cyclists. Flora and fauna in the Fuldaaue can be easily observed here. On the left side of the Fulda is the R1 cycle path and the “Am Wittich” mobile home park.
