The beautiful Erdholländer mill in Wynhamster Kolk is a ground-sailing mill built in 1804 to ensure drainage of the town. After all, we are at the lowest point in East Frisia, two and a half metres below sea level. In 1963, the Rheiderland local history association took over the care of the mill, which suffered repeated severe storm damage in the years that followed. Today we see the pretty piece in the condition it was in after the slewing ring of the mill cap was repaired in 2009.
