Here you can feel history close up. At the end of the forties there was sometimes not even coffee in Germany, which is why people used their "Muckefuck" from parts of plants that somehow came close to the taste of coffee. But of course, that's not the same, which is why coffee was a coveted good. And such goods often find interesting ways to those who desire them. This is the path that begins here: the "smuggler" path where people actually smuggled coffee from Belgium to Germany. The St. Hubert's Church in nearby Schmidt is therefore still today "St. Mocha "called.

Schmidt was destroyed in the 2nd World War 90%. In order to have money for the reconstruction, the inhabitants smuggled coffee from Belgium to Schmidt. The pastor asked the community for financial support for the construction of the destroyed church. This is why it is also called Church St.Mocca.
