The chapel of Onze-Lieve-Vrouw van den Akker owes its name to its legendary origin.
Where the chapel now stands, there used to be nothing more than waste ground and bushes with thorns. One day, while playing, a young girl found a 'clean doll' under a bush. When she happily showed the find to her mother, she quickly saw that it was no ordinary doll and carefully put it away. The surprise was great when the find turned out to be gone the next day. The girl searched again and found the doll again in the same place near the bush where she had found it the previous day. This wonderful story was told to the pastor who decided to take the doll in procession to the parish church. Three times the doll was taken to the church and three times it returned to the wood. They knew no better than to build a chapel on the spot where Mary clearly wished to be venerated.

This charming chapel in Minderhout was built in the mid-17th century by pastor Waltman van Dyck, brother of the famous painter Antoon van Dyck.

In the Kapeldreef is the chapel Our Lady of Seven Woes, better known as 'Chapel Onze-Lieve-Vrouw van den Akker'. The chapel was beautifully restored a few years ago and is open every day during the day. You should definitely take a look, both inside and out. Enjoy the beauty of the building.
