The Edendorfer Tonkuhle in the Edendorf district of Itzehoe is a residual open pit lake. Since there are several clay pits in Edendorf, it is also referred to as the large Edendorfer clay pit to distinguish it from the smaller ones.
After clay was quarried at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century, the pit filled with water and was later turned into a green area. [1] Today the water is also used as fishing water.

Not far from the hospital is this lake with beautiful paths around it. Also good for a short detour if you don't want a big round.
