    The chruch is beautiful with stained glass windows, impressive architecture, and nice front art. The church was built by Jane Stanford in memory of her husband Leland Stanford. We stopped in around 9:30 AM. The position of the sun was such that it was shining directly through the star on one of the stained glass windows - very cool effect. While we were there the organist was practicing.

        Stanford Memorial Church stands at the center of the campus, and is the University's architectural crown jewel. Dedicated in 1903, it was one of the earliest, and is still among the most prominent, interdenominational churches in the West. Jane Stanford built the church as a memorial to her husband, Leland. Together, Senator and Mrs. Stanford had constructed the University as a memorial to their son, Leland, Jr.
        The Stanfords, who were religious, but not committed to any denomination, decreed that the church was to be open to all. religiouslife.stanford.edu/memorial-church/stanford-memorial-church-information
