Pontaillac beach in Royan is a 400 m long family beach, very popular for its fine sand, very popular and known to both residents and vacationers. It is located in the Pontaillac district, north of the town of Royan, and on the edge of the town of Vaux Sur Mer. It does not go unnoticed with the Royan casino which is just nearby. It is located in a lively area surrounded by opulent houses. Just a few meters from the beach, you can take the time to sip a glass of cocktails while enjoying a surprising view of the sea. You will also find restaurants offering regional specialties.
The other particularity of Pontaillac Beach is that it is suitable for surfing, whether for beginners or amateurs, thanks to its beautiful waves. Otherwise, you can practice bodyboarding, windsurfing and will find facilities such as an initiation pool, games for children, children's club, nautical club, volleyball net, etc. During the high season, you can rent deckchairs and tents to fully enjoy a moment of relaxation. You can even rent mattresses if you want more comfort. It should be noted that on the west side of the beach, there is a pétanque court, enough to delight lovers of this activity. To the south of the beach, across the road, there is a mini golf course. Very close to the beach are the Royan museum and the Notre-Dame-des-Anges chapel.
To ensure the safety of vacationers, the beach is monitored during periods when it is very busy. Classified in the third category "Monitored Beaches", the supervised area is demarcated by two blue flags. Six lifeguards are present from June 15 to September 1 continuously from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
As the beach is close to the town, it is easily accessible and has paid parking that can accommodate a large number of cars.
