              Together with the Oberkasseler and Theodor Heuss bridges, the Rheinkniebrücke forms the narrower area of the Düsseldorf bridge family. Behind this is the common construction principle as cable-stayed bridges. On the left bank of the Rhine, the Rheinalleetunnel was built as a result of the bridge construction. When the Rheinuferstrasse was lowered, the bridge on the right bank of the Rhine was connected to the tunnel.
              Even though the construction principle of the bridges is the same, there are clear differences. At the Rhine knee bridge, which derives its name from the location on the Rhine knee with the strong curve of the Rhine, the two huge pylons that carry the bridge cables catch the eye.
