A really perfect road for a gravel bike, and doable on road bikes if a bit uncomfortable. One of our group got 5 snakebites on this, but the rest of us were fine, and it was mostly because he couldn’t get enough pressure into his 28c tyres with a hand pump.
The views of Ben Hope are stunning, and plenty of chances to spot deer too.
Definitely best ridden on a gravel bike (or mtb if you want to take full advantage of the downhills). Be warned, in the summer, be prepared with a strong insect repellant ... this really is cleg country. In case you are not sure what clegs are, they are a type of horsefly, horsefly bites are not nice! Despite that, this is a brilliant track to ride and is part of the northern loop of the Highland 550 race.
