Unlike neighboring Deauville, Trouville-sur-Mer on the banks of the Touques was not designed as a fashionable holiday destination with a racetrack, regatta and casino, but was for a long time a quiet fishing village. This changed with the railway connection, the establishment of the casino and the opening of numerous hotels and new restaurants in the 19th century. Today, the two neighboring seaside resorts are absolute public favorites (Michelin)
