On July 24, 2010, the Love Parade in Duisburg ended in disaster. 21 people died in the crush in the access area and another 541 people were seriously injured.
To this day, the exact background to the accident has not been clarified, nor are the responsibilities for planning it. The catastrophe continues to shape the consciousness of the city of Duisburg. Many citizens showed and continue to show their grief, including with memorial events here at the site of the disaster.
