The Vechtesee is located very close to the city center of Nordhorn. It acts as a buffer reservoir to protect Nordhorn from flooding. It also serves as a local recreation area with very good restaurants. There are many opportunities for leisure activities here, such as sailing, surfing or a hike or bike tour around the beautiful Vechtesee. You can rent pedal boats and rowing boats from a boat rental company and use them to explore the city center of Nordhorn, for example.
