The Zero, a resurgence river which originates near Castelfranco Veneto, runs through the lower province of Treviso, finally enters the province of Venice at Quarto d'Altino and here it flows into the Dese, another river which originates around Castelfranco, flows a little further below, crossing Piombino Dese, Scorzè Martellago. Together they arrive in the lagoon after a few other bends in our track, crossing that set of canals that the Venetians have rectified and built to safeguard their habitat.
The Dese is a river that can be followed by bike from its source to its mouth, between banks and meanders: beautiful!

In this bend, the Zero and Dese enter the canal of Santa Maria and from here they begin to mix their waters with those of the lagoon: ancient witnesses of history and civilization that meet in Altino, a place of commerce and exchange that connects the sea to the hinterland and is the crossing point of the Roman roads Annia which runs in the east-west axis along the coast and the Claudia Augusta which reaches the Alps from the sea, crosses them to reach the plains of German Bavaria
