During our visit, the water in the Orange River ran rather sparsely over the cliffs because it had been extremely dry for several years. After rains, unbelievable masses of water shoot into the deeper gorge. The path leads over wooden walkways to the viewpoints and leads past numerous Dassies and colorful lizards that loll on the rocks in the sun.
Just a few days earlier, the top viewing platforms were closed due to flooding. Green-tailed monkeys cavort on the trees and rock hyrax dream in the shade of the rocks.
