The tower on the Schönen Höhe is considered to be the earliest Goethe place of worship.
The art historian Johann Gottlob von Quandt thus realized his dream of erecting a memorial to the poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, whom he held in high esteem. Three years after the inauguration in 1832, the later professor at the Dresden Art Academy painted the frescoes for the Goethe poems "The Singer", "The Fisherman", "Erlkönig", "Geistergruß", "The King in Thule" and the "Fairy Tale of the Green" Line". Open on Saturday and Sunday from 11.00 a.m. Guided tours for groups with advance notice
