It is a pedunculate oak, 23.8 meters high with a circumference of 1.7 m at 1.30 m from the ground. His age is unknown.
According to a tradition dating from ancient times, it was customary to honor trees by hanging pieces of cloth and necklaces from their branches. The Gauls attributed to them a divine character. To destroy this idolatry, as early as the 8th century the church sanctified some of them by giving them the name of a Saint and by installing relics or religious objects there, such as the small statue that had been slipped into a cavity of this oak in the forest of Halatte near Fleurines.
Every year, still today, this oak is the subject of a pilgrimage that leaves the church of Fleurines to go to the foot of this tree where a mass is celebrated.
