When you walk to the pleasure house, you need not be afraid of a slippery aftertaste. Because in such an establishment at the time of the Renaissance and the Baroque all youth-free pleasures were pursued. Festivals, receptions or other festivities - the Lusthaus was at that time something like today perhaps a municipal cultural center.

A well-known example is the Viennese pleasure house in the Prater. It was built in the 16th century and initially served as a hunting lodge. At the time it was still on the water, because at that time the Danube Canal had not yet been relocated. During the Second World War, the Lusthaus was almost completely destroyed, but immediately afterwards reconstructed and reopened in 1949. Today it is a listed building and houses a café and a restaurant.

When Emperor Maximilian II united the fiefdom of some monasteries and communities in the area of today's Prater into a closed, imperial hunting ground in 1560, the "Green Lusthaus", a hunting lodge, was built. In 1766, Emperor Josef II made public the Prater, which until then had been reserved exclusively for the court and the nobility. From 1781 to 1783, the Lusthaus was rebuilt on behalf of Joseph II by Isidore Canevale. Since that time, the Lusthaus has repeatedly been the scene of great festivities.
