Historic gem mine Kittenrain, Bach a.d. Danube

Framed by the course of the rivers in Bach an der Donau, near the princely park, is the historic gem mine "Kittenrain" hidden underground.
Like a journey through past centuries, the guided tour in historically modeled miner's clothing enables insights into the oldest technology known to mankind.

The mine, which has existed for over 500 years, expanded its initial search for silver to include gemstones, until it finally stopped mining in 1991 and was converted into a visitor mine in 1996.

After a historical introduction, immerse yourself in the mysterious darkness of the world of miners under an expert guide. Let yourself be carried away to a mining jewel that inspires not only with the splendor of the colors of its river spar passages, which are still visible today.
Over 500 years of mining history, the tours over glowing and glittering water, large mining caves and the view of the old, still functional machines inspire the visitors. The gem mine is easily and safely accessible for young and old, for children and adults, but also for disabled people. The visit is an unforgettable experience for everyone.
